Two men have been arrested by Essex Police after a man was left in a critical condition after being attacked in Halstead.

Police were called by the ambulance service to Butler Road, Halstead, at 2.30am on Saturday, February 21, after a man was seriously injured.

A 30-year-old man from Halstead and a 27-year-old man from Sudbury have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and are currently being questioned by detectives.

Officers are still keen to speak to two potential witnesses who were seen in the area at the time.

One is a white man, aged between 16 and 25, who was wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded top.

The other is a white woman of a similar age, who was wearing a white top with black trousers. She was seen running past Scenarios.

DI Neil Pudney said: “We are still trying to ascertain how the man sustained the injuries and I’d like to appeal to these two potential witnesses as they might have vital information.”

Anyone with information on the attack should call Braintree CID on 101.
