A R Heeks and Son convenience store in Lavenham applauds staff's dedication during coronavirus pandemic
The owner of a convenience store in Lavenham has commended his team for their continued dedication during the coronavirus pandemic.
Keen to support the community, A R Heeks and Son in Market Place has worked tirelessly throughout the crisis to provide essential goods for customers.
“Everyday has been a challenge,” said John Heeks, who is the third generation of his family to have run the business.
“The initial stage was very busy; we were being rushed off our feet.”
Praising the support of his team, Mr Heeks said: “I’m grateful for the loyalty of my staff; they have come in every day and have put up with difficult conditions, without them, I couldn’t have done it.”
Whilst experiencing an increase in demand at the height of the lockdown, the business had to adopt an effective approach to trade efficiently.
“We have tried to adapt the business to the best our ability, said the 58-year-old, whose sister, Anne Churchard, and nephew, Christopher, work alongside him at the store. “From day one we have offered a delivery service,” added Mr Heeks.
Hailing the community’s efforts, he added: “Lavenham is virtually self-sufficient, we can get every- thing here from a range of places.”
