Litter pick days are being held in villages across Babergh to clean up the district’s countryside.

Local groups have organised clean-up events during the next five weeks in Layham (March 7), Bildeston (March 21), Acton (March 27) and Leavenheath (April 16).

Andrew Nunn, chairman of the Suffolk Waste Partnership, said: “I would encourage anyone who cares about their local environment to follow the lead of these dedicated volunteers and join a litter pick in their area.

“Keeping our beautiful county litter-free is not only good for residents, but is a great way to rally the community.

“Removing rubbish also improves the habitats of local wildlife. A little effort can have a large impact.”

To join one of the community litter picks or organise your own, contact Babergh District Council on 01449 724946.
