Long Melford care home bounces back with glowing CQC report
A Long Melford care facility is celebrating a glowing report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), marking a significant upturn from being rated inadequate just over three years ago.
Melford Court Care Home in Hall Street achieved a good rating in its first inspection since being purchased by the Stow Healthcare Group, with the report highlighting a “welcoming, open and uplifting culture” at the facility.
The home had been rated as inadequate in June 2015, and subsequently received the ‘requires improvement’ grade the following year, before it was eventually taken over by Stow Healthcare in September 2017.
Since then, the family-run provider has worked to implement improvements at the home, which is now considered good in all categories in its latest report, published on Thursday.
Roger Catchpole, Stow Healthcare’s managing director, said: “We are hugely proud of what our staff have achieved at Melford Court since we took ownership of the home just 16 months ago.
“Especially, given that the home was previously rated as ‘requires improvement’ overall, and inadequate for care, prior to our acquisition.
“The staff and management at the home have made dramatic improvements since Stow Healthcare took ownership and we look forward to improving our care offering further still in the future.”
In the report, inspectors praised staff for their enthusiasm in their roles and for working cohesively together.
They also hailed the registered manager, Fiona Smith, for maintaining strong partnerships with a number of other health and social care organisations, in order to achieve better care outcomes for residents.
Miss Smith said: “This fantastic report is a huge achievement for the dedicated team we have here at Melford Court.
“To have been able to engage the community so positively in the last year and build relationships with other healthcare professionals has made a huge difference to residents at Melford Court and we want to keep building on all the good work.”
