Long Melford Library announces plans for renovation and increased opening hours
Long Melford Library hopes to revitalise local interest in its facilities after announcing plans for a renovation and increased opening hours.
The library confirmed it will close for a week at the end of this month to allow the refurbishment to take place, after which new opening hours will take effect at the start of April.
The changes, which were approved following a recent public consultation and are supported by the Suffolk Libraries Board and Suffolk County Council, will see longer hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The library will also open on Saturdays, but will be closed on Sundays.
Library manager Jack Norman said: “We are closing from March 25 to April 2 for refurbishment that has been funded by developer contributions and the Friends of Long Melford Library.
“We are hoping to make the space more modern, welcoming and flexible so that we can put on more activities for all ages such as crafts, coding and IT sessions.”
The library has also stated that any library loans due back during the closure will have their dates amended until it reopens.
