Man’s body rotting in tent, hears inquest

A man, whose badly decomposed body was found at his Sudbury home, had died after inhaling chloroform, an inquest heard.

When police went to check on David Morgan at his home in Blackfriars on September 24 after his employer voiced concerns at having not seen him for some time, they found a large number of £20 notes neatly arranged in rows in the kitchen.

An inquest on Monday heard how officers found a tent made from plastic sheeting in a bedroom.

Inside was the badly decomposed body of Mr Morgan with a breathing mask on his face. It was connected to a nearby silver canister.

Assistant Suffolk coroner Dr Daniel Sharpstone said that Mr Morgan, 34, was identified through dental records. A suicide note written by him was found at the scene.

Recording a conclusion of suicide by inhalation of chloroform, Dr Sharpstone said: “I am satisfied that Mr Morgan understood and intended the consequences of his actions.”
