A Sudbury business hopes to help young people to get their foot in the door of the marketing world, with a free careers event next week.

Marketing agency Mackman Group will hold a career showcase at its head office in Meadow Lane on Wednesday, from 10am until noon.

Aimed at 13 to 24 year olds, the event enables attendees to meet team members from various marketing disciplines, including creative fields, digital, research, content, communications, video and photography.

Each team will have their own stall to share advice about transferable skills from school, and job hunting in the marketing sector.

In addition, representatives from West Suffolk College will be on hand with details of their courses and apprenticeships, and there will also be resources from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).

The event is part of the Careeriosity initiative, which was set up by Babergh and Mid Suffolk district councils to connect businesses with young people.

Paul Mackman, managing director of Mackman Group, said: “We are always looking to support people who are considering a career in marketing in East Anglia and further afield, which is why we are hosting our very own Careeriosity session.

“Attendees will be able to learn about getting into marketing and CIM routes for aspiring marketers, such as apprenticeships and higher level qualifications, and we would encourage anyone interested to attend and find out about this dynamic sector.”

John Ward, leader of Babergh District Council, added: “We have an incredible range of businesses in our district and our Careeriosity programme provides a great opportunity for young people to see and hear directly from them, while finding out what career paths are open to them.

“Learning directly from successful businesses can provides invaluable inspiration and awareness of the different pathways for their possible futures.”
