Pair's passion for American cuisine inspires launch of new Cluck & Waffle takeaway in Sudbury
Two friends united by a passion for great food are on a mission to provide a tasty new option to Sudbury’s delivery market.
Reese Prince and Lewis Sell have already launched their American-style eatery Cluck & Waffle online, ready for what they hope will be a busy first weekend in early April.
Mr Sell said: “The business was born out of a passion to create food that people could enjoy that is a bit different to what is currently on offer. The Sudbury takeaway food scene is great quality but has little variety. We wanted to offer our take on American cuisine.”
The Cluck & Waffle menu, which has been met with a huge response on Facebook, offers fried chicken, waffles, and a wide variety of largely homemade sauces. The pair have been friends for years, having lived most of their lives in Sudbury and studied at the former Sudbury Upper School. And it has been with the help of electrician friends and graphic artist James Cadby that they have been able to establish.
Both Mr Sell, a financial advisor, and Mr Prince, a stock taker, will continue in their day jobs for the time being with Cluck & Waffle delivering on Friday and Saturday nights during lockdown while also supplying occasional events.
Orders can be made from Monday to Thursday with 70 slots available for delivery on both Fridays and Saturdays. The pair will be preparing food from a unit in Chilton but would like to establish their own premises for customers to dine in.
“We have always been incredibly passionate about cooking,” Mr Sell continued. “If we were to go out and meet people we would often turn up with something we have made.
“We have wanted to do something for a long time and now we have the opportunity to do it. Thanks to the support of everyone, our friends and family, we felt ready to take the plunge.”
He added: “Because we know a lot of people in Sudbury we expected some response, but the reaction has been massive, it has snowballed.”
