Police seize £600,000 of cannabis following raids of illegal drug farms in Sudbury and Pebmarsh
More than half-a-million pounds of cannabis was seized by police, after a pair of illegal drug manufacturing spaces were uncovered.
Sudbury and Haverhill Police carried out two separate raids last week, which saw officers discover a large quantity of cannabis plants, valued at approximately £600,000 in total, between the two sites.
The first raid occurred on Wednesday, when police executed a search warrant on an industrial premise in Middleton Road, Sudbury.
The officers found what has been described as a “sophisticated cannabis factory” inside the premises.
Later that day, a second warrant was executed on a residential property in Pebmarsh, Essex, leading to the discovery of another cannabis factory.
As a result of the raids, five people were arrested and questioned, before they were all released under investigation, pending further inquiries.
A police spokesman said the cannabis plants would be destroyed, and they praised the work of the Sudbury and Haverhill officers and area intelligence teams.
Cannabis is categorised as a class B prohibited substance under UK law.
