Salon reaches charity total after fundraiser
Staff at a hair salon in Sudbury have raised hundreds of pounds for multiple sclerosis after being inspired by one of their customers.
Staff at Fanboo in the Borehamgate precinct rounded off their 2014 fundraising with a series of events to raise almost £500 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Having previously raised money for Macmillan nurses, owner Sue Sanders said the change of charity was inspired by customer Jane Patterson, who suffers from the neurological condition.
Sue said they were surprised to learn that the condition affected so many young people.
“We didn’t realise how many people suffered from MS,” she said. “We decided we would like to do something for her because she is so inspiring.”
In October, staff held a pamper evening to kick off their fundraising drive, raising £300.
Another pamper evening last month with festive fancy dress and a raffle brought the total up to almost £500.
Sue thanked customers for all their support.
“It is a really staggering amount,” she said. “It was down to all our lovely customers who contributed.”
