Thomas Gainsborough School and Wells Hall Primary School in Great Cornard, near Sudbury, placed into lockdown after police alerted to report of three young males who potentially had a knife




Two schools were placed into lockdown after police were alerted to a report of three young males who potentially had a knife.

Officers were called at 2.45pm today to the outside grounds of Thomas Gainsborough School, in Wells Hall Road, Great Cornard.

Thomas Gainsborough and Wells Hall Primary School, also in Wells Hall Road, Great Cornard, were locked down as a precaution while officers attended.

A police spokesperson said the lockdowns were no longer in place and pupils have since been allowed to leave while officers have remained in the area.

No arrests have been made.
