LEARN MOREA large straw bale fire in a Suffolk town is thought to have been started intentionally.
Over 400 tonnes of straw was destroyed in a suspected arson attack on land off Nethergate Street in Clare.
Firefighters from Clare and Haverhill were alerted to the incident at around 2.40pm on Monday, and remained at the scene until just before midday on Tuesday afternoon.
A crew from Long Melford remained on the scene until 7pm dampening down.
A spokesperson for Suffolk Police said: "Officers are also urging the public to be aware as fires like this in these dry conditions could cause loss of property and life."
