Student from Thomas Gainsborough School in Great Cornard earns plaudits in Rotary Young Photographer competition

An aspiring young student photographer has earned plaudits for her artistic potential, as she was recognised in a yearly Rotary competition.

Thomas Gainsborough School pupil Jemma Sargent received a Highly Commended certificate in the junior category of the annual Rotary Young Photographer contest, which received a record number of entries across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

Her picture, ‘Tigers’, was nominated by the Rotary Club of Sudbury for the virtual competition, which this year followed the theme of wild nature, with winners chosen by a judging panel comprised of members of the Royal Photographic Society.

Assessing her work, the judges concluded that Jemma has “huge potential, a good eye for subject, composition and the use of colour and light.”

She was presented her certificate and a £10 voucher by past Sudbury Rotary Club president Sandra Armitage.
