Couple set to stage open garden event to raise funds for people living with a life-threatening illness

An open garden event is being staged in Sudbury at the weekend in aid of a charity, which provides vital support for people living with a terminal illness.

Conrad Bentley and his wife, Colette, are inviting the public to take a tour of their garden in Melford Road on Saturday and Sunday, between 12pm and 5pm.

The couple had planned to take part in the Sudbury Open Gardens event in June, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual spectacle was cancelled.

Keen to raise funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care, the pair have decided to host their own two-day event, with all proceeds being donated to the charity in Bury St Edmunds.

A one-way system is among the social distancing measures being put in place, which will enable people to enter the garden at Queens Road and exit at Melford Road.

Hand sanitiser will also be provided.

The couple’s address is 22 Melford Road, Sudbury, CO10 1LS. For further details about the event, call Mr Bentley on 07939 622533.
