Sudbury GCSE results: Ormiston Sudbury Academy celebrates amid significant overall increase in grades
GCSE students at Ormiston Sudbury Academy (OSA) celebrated the fruits of their labour this morning, as the school enjoyed a big boost in overall performance.
The school in Tudor Road – which is part of the Ormiston Academies Trust – reported a “very significant increase” in the number of students achieving good passing results (grade 5 and up), as well as the highest marks (grades 7-9).
Top performers include Grace Stalker, who achieved high grades in English, maths and the sciences, and will now attend sixth form, in the hope of studying medicine at university.
Holly Kirwan and Atuh Tangunyi also earned top results across eight subjects, while Alex Mos is on track for his goal of going to Cambridge University to study computing, after receiving a strong set of GCSEs.
OSA also highlighted the significant progress made by several pupils in the last five years – such as Eli and Desi Ekponza, whose final grade average was more than double than predicted by their starting points.
In addition, Valerii Voitenko passed English literature and obtained good grades in maths and science, despite only moving to the UK a few years ago.
Sally Morris, OSA principal, said: “Our Year 11 students are a wonderful group of young people who have worked exceptionally hard to get great results.
“They are now able to take up their first choices courses at sixth forms and colleges in Suffolk and Essex.
“The entire team at Ormiston Sudbury has been celebrating with them, proud of their exam success and of all they have contributed to the life of the school in their years with us.
“We wish them every success in the next phase of their education.”
