Sudbury man determined to overcome medical condition with fundraising walk in aid of My Wish charity at West Suffolk Hospital
A Sudbury man is determined to overcome a debilitating medical condition to complete an intensive challenge in aid of front-line medical workers who have been helping to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
Joe Warren is embarking on a 14-mile walk from Great Cornard to Long Melford tomorrow, with all donations from the fundraiser going to the My Wish Charity at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.
“During lockdown, I have been out walking to train for the challenge ever since I got the idea to raise the money,” said the 31-year-old, who suffers from osteopenia, a medical condition, which causes low bone density.
“The question is whether I can push myself to go that far, but I’m hoping to complete it.”
Mr Warren, of Woodhall Road, was keen to do whatever he could to support the NHS.
“I wanted to do something that could help raise money for the hospital,” he said. “I have friends who work on two wards, and it’s to say a thank-you to them for what they have been doing.”
