Sudbury man overwhelmed by community support after 14-mile fundraising walk brings in £740 for My Wish charity

A Sudbury man has praised the community for their support after successfully completing a 14-mile fundraising challenge last week.

Joe Warren battled sweltering temperatures as he embarked on an intensive walk from Great Cornard to Long Melford on Friday.

The 31-year-old was delighted to have raised £740 for the My Wish charity at Bury St Edmunds, in aid of the front-line medical workers who have been tackling coronavirus.

Due to the warm weather, Mr Warren had to take a series of refreshment breaks along the route to rehydrate.

Reflecting on the challenge, which took nine hours to complete, Mr Warren, of Woodhall Road, said: “A lot of the motivation came from the donations I received. I’m especially overwhelmed by the support I have had, and I cannot believe that I have been able to raise this amount.”
