Teenager charged after shop robbery

An 18-year-old man from Sudbury has been charged following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Ballingdon Street.

Police were called on Wednesday at around 3.20pm to reports that a man had gone into Strawberry Stores with a knife and stolen items.

Multiple police cars arrived at the scene near Ballingdon Bridge to conduct a search of the area.

A short time later, Casey Keeble, 18, of Ballingdon Street, Sudbury, was arrested and taken into custody at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, where he was interviewed in connection with the incident.

On Thursday, he was charged with robbery and threatening a person with an offensive weapon.

He was detained in custody before appearing at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Saturday. The case was sent to Ipswich Crown Court where he is due to appear on April 14.

He has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
