Sudbury launches 2024 Christmas Window Display Competition to showcase town’s festive offering
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Sudbury, as a popular annual competition makes its anticipated return tonight.
The 2024 Sudbury Christmas Window Display Competition launches on Friday evening, coinciding with the Christmas Lights Switch-on and Fair.
Organised jointly by Sudbury Town Council and thebestof Sudbury, the competition will once again see dozens of businesses showcasing their creativity with their own unique shopfront displays.
While out and about doing their Christmas shopping, residents and visitors are encouraged to cast their eyes over the many festive-themed displays.
They can then vote for their favourite by filling in the cut-out form included in the Suffolk Free Press, below, and handing it in at Sudbury Town Hall.
Everyone who casts their vote will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a Love Local hamper, containing more than £200 worth of gifts donated by more than 35 local businesses.
Rachel Price, business manager at Sudbury Town Council, said: “We are so pleased to be partnering with thebestof Sudbury for another festive celebration of Sudbury’s innovative business community.
“The Christmas Window Display Trail Competition is an excellent opportunity for businesses to really showcase what they do and for all of us to discover the true diversity of Sudbury’s high street offer.”
Voting opens this evening, and people can hand in their paper votes at the town hall until midday on Thursday, December 19.
Alternatively, there is the option to vote online, which is available until midday on Friday, December 20.
Winners of both the competition and the hamper prize draw will be announced later that day, via a Facebook live stream, and also in the Suffolk Free Press.
For details about how to vote online, as well as a full trail map of the participating businesses, visit www.sudbury-tc.gov.uk/christmas.
The Christmas Lights Switch-on and Fair takes place from 5pm until 9pm tonight, with festivities taking place across Market Hill, North Street and East Street.
Free to attend, the occasion will include a variety of funfair rides, street entertainment, stalls, games, food and drink, alongside the switch-on itself.
