Plans for a new community garden at a rural village hall have been revealed after the facility celebrated a successful campaign to secure its future.

Stansfield Village Hall welcomed supporters to mark the completion of the new roof, funded with almost £40,000 in grants and local donations.

The village hall committee also announced its next project – the redevelopment of neglected outdoor spaces into a new sensory garden, targeted for opening by next summer.

The first stage of the project will include seating and disability access, while the second phase aims to deliver a community kitchen garden to help supply food to local events.

Committee member Julie Ghirardani said: “I, for one, have learnt to appreciate the enormous benefits from flowers and wildlife and would like to create a special place that we can all enjoy, admire and join together with others to maintain, learn and share.”
