Voters flock to sheep hut creation at Lingard Fabrics competition in Sudbury
A crafted miniature sheep’s hut has won a woman from Great Cornard first place in a fabric design competition.
Launched last year, Lingard Fabrics challenged customers to create an item from material supplied by both its Sudbury branch in King Street and its Braintree store.
Carole Jarvis, of Beech Road, impressed online voters with her creation of a sheep’s hut and pocket-sized farmyard animal, which she crafted in her spare time.
Before embarking on the challenge, the 66-year-old said she was inspired to create a unique design.
“I thought, what can I make that is different?,” said Mrs Jarvis, a mother-of-two.
A member of a weekly knitting group in Acton, she has crafted a range of items, from bathroom blinds to a laptop case for her daughter.
Praising her creation, store manager Simone Lingard said: “The stitching is so precise and on point, and has proved to be a real crowd pleaser, with most of the votes on our Facebook page going to super-talented Carol.”
Braintree store manager Esme Murphy added: “It was such an unusual, lovely piece.”
