Walk raises £2,500 in Daisy’s memory
A fundraising fancy dress walk in memory of seven-year-old Daisy Brooks, from Bures, who died last year after battling a brain tumour, has raised £2,500.
More than 60 people took part in the fancy dress walk on Saturday morning, which stretched 7.1 miles from Sudbury to Bures.
Organiser Hayley Berry said she was chuffed to have more than doubled the initial target amount for brain cancer research.
“It was a really good turnout,” she said.
“Even when we hit around five miles and people started thinking ‘this is quite a long way’, the atmosphere kept us going.
“We all knew what we were doing it for.”
The sponsored walk ended at the Eight Bells pub in Bures, where walkers and supporters gathered for refreshments.
Hayley, who works in Bures, said she hopes to organise another fundraising walk during the summer.
