A walking festival across Suffolk is set to return with its biggest line-up yet, including a tour in Gainsborough’s shoes.

The event, which takes place from May 9 to 31, features more than 90 guided walks around the medieval villages, market towns and idyllic landscapes.

Visitors can enjoy a 1.5-mile guided tour of Gainsborough’s Sudbury on May 17 with the White Hart owners, who will give walkers an idea of what the town was like in 1750.

Organised by Suffolk’s local authorities, the festival also features walks around Lavenham and Long Melford.

BBC Radio Suffolk’s Lesley Dolphin, who is a new patron of the festival, said: “This is a wonderful chance to slow the pace a little and to see, hear and smell some of the delights of Suffolk.”
