Sudbury web designer hopes to inspire others after top accolade at SME News UK Enterprise Awards

A Suffolk web designer says she wants to inspire other women to achieve their business ambitions after earning prestigious national recognition.

Polyspiral, a website design and hosting business approaching its 20th anniversary, is celebrating after winning a top accolade at the SME News UK Enterprise Awards for 2024.

The company was named the Most Trusted Web Management and Hosting Provider at the awards, which are now in their eighth year and honour small-to-medium-sized businesses.

It represents a major achievement for Polyspiral founder Abbie Thoms, a graphic design graduate who has overcome significant challenges during her 26 years of work in the web design sector.

Since starting the business in 2005, after discovering her passion for web design while working on the Ipswich School of Arts site, Abbie went full-time in 2010 upon moving back to Sudbury.

During this time, she has persevered through health challenges in order to build up the company, which notably pledges 100 per cent renewable energy use in delivering its web hosting services.

“I am incredibly honoured to receive this award from SME News,” said Abbie.

“As a female business owner who has faced and overcome health challenges, this recognition is deeply meaningful.
