AFC Sudbury complete signing of former Luton Town youngster Josh Allen

AFC Sudbury have secured the return of Josh Allen.

The attacker initially arrived at the MEL Group Stadium on loan from then Premier League outfit Luton Town in February and he went on to play a key role in the Yellows’ successful fight against relegation from Step 3.

Allen scored a total of eight goals for Marc Abbott’s side, including a brace in the memorable 7-1 victory over Long Eaton United.

And following his departure after 10 years with the Hatters earlier this summer, Allen has now decided to return to Sudbury on a permanent basis.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “Josh joined us on loan from Luton Town last season and his goal input was a key factor in us retaining our Southern League spot so it is a real statement of intent in what we want to achieve this season to see Josh back with us in yellow again this term.

“You have all seen what Josh brings to the table, a keen eye for goal, can score from anywhere around and inside the box and he's got a hammer of a left peg on him.”

While he leaves without making a senior appearance, Allen did feature on three occasions in the FA Youth Cup for Luton.
