Attwater claims first Grand Prix title




John Attwater won the Howdens Grand Prix singles title for the first time at the JMP Services Ltd Sudbury & District Invitational Darts League finals night last Friday.

The Bay Horse player, runner-up in 2016/17, beat defending champion Jason Stalker and number two seed Andy Lawrence to reach the final, where he edged out top seed Adam Gilders 3-2 in an enthralling game.

Gilders was also out of luck in the JMP League Pairs final, where he and partner Paul Woods lost 3-0 to LMWMC Rebels team-mates Ian Randles and Malcolm Tonkins, who took the title for the third time.

Randles also won the Random Pairs final with Toby Edwards, beating Andy Batih and Stalker 3-1,while Joe Doyle took the BlitzFitMe Sudbury Youth Academy singles title with a 2-0 win over Harvey Stringer.

LMWMC Rebels were awarded the JMP League Champions trophy after another unbeaten season, with Bay Horse winning the JMP League Challenge Cup.

Randles and Alan Towns shared the BlitzFitMe Most 180s trophy, with Stalker getting his hands on the DGH Pest Services Highest Finish award.
