Competition hotting up ahead of round five of Eastern Enduro Champs
Sunday will see round five of the G H Motorcycles/Husqvarna/ACU Eastern Enduro Championship – and the pace is hotting up for the six Class titles.
This event will be run on the Hare and Hounds format at Foxborough Quarry, Sible Hedingham, and the organisers, Sudbury Motorcycle Club, have reduced the race time to two hours due to the continuing spell of hot, dry weather, also on the advice of their National Governing Body – the Auto Cycle Union.
At the moment the Championship Class battle is between Halstead’s Jason Morland (64 points) and Luke Parker (60 points), while round-four winner Will Hughes has 49 points.
Ben Cole, winner of Halstead’s recent Richard Fitch Memorial Motocross, and riding in his first year in enduros, has 37 points, with Myles Saunders just behind him on 36 points.
Jack Berry needs to be on top form in the Expert Class, although he leads on 58 points from newcomer to the class James Barker who, having won the last two rounds, is breathing down his neck with 53 points. George Eustace has 40 points and Tommy Clark 36 points.
Nothing can separate Michael Ridge and contest sponsor Gavin Hockey in the Expert Veteran Class; both have 72 points, two wins, one second and one third place each. Phil Roper has 47 points and Paul Spurgeon 32 points.
Rob Aldridge has a comfortable lead in the Clubman Class with 77 points with Dan Hunt on 52 points, Jake Roper on 42 points, George Wolfe on 40 points and Will Jurgens on 35 points.
The lead in the Clubman Veteran Class keeps changing from round to round; presently Steve Youngs is leading with 51 points, Jason Carsboult has 48 points, Andy Peck (42), Jeff Turner (39), Kevin Webb (37), Michael Wyatt (36) and Dean Curry (35).
Andy Mason is back in front in the Clubman Super Veteran Class for the first time this year with 65 points with Graham Mays on 58 points, Gene Womack 53 points, Gary Drage 52 points and Nigel Ross 43 points.
After the main event, which starts from 1pm, round three of the G H Motorcycles/G & B Finch Aggregates Youth Hare and Hounds follows on when Will Belton will be looking to make it three wins in a row.
With more experience, the odds look to be stacked in favour of the Sible Hedingham-based rider.
