AFC Sudbury bring in former Cambridge United forward Joe Neal from St Albans City
Joe Neal has agreed to become AFC Sudbury’s third signing of the summer.
The Newmarket-raised forward has arrived at the MEL Group Stadium from Vanarama National League South outfit St Albans, where he has spent the previous 18 months after previous stints with Needham Market and Biggleswade Town.
Neal, who came through the academy at Cambridge United to make one senior appearance for the U’s, featured on 34 occasions at Step 2 last season (17 starts), during which time he scored two goals and laid on seven assists.
Yellows boss Marc Abbott said of his latest addition: "He's an excellent signing for us and has the ability to score goals.
“Having had previous experience at Needham Market and Biggleswade Town at Step 3, we feel as though Joe has the necessary qualities to score some important goals for us this season. But not only is he a goalscorer, his work ethic, endeavour and willingness to run will I'm sure be acknowledged by the fans.
“Joe spent the last season and a half at Step 2 side St Albans City where he featured more than 30 times last season.”
Neal has joined goalkeeper James Bradbrook and defender Tom Dickens as the new faces at Sudbury so far this summer.
