The five riders included 14-year-old Georgia Potter, who has been riding in the women’s national competition.

Potter took an early lead but Sible Hedingham’s Will Belton slipped through on the inside at the first bend.

At the end of the first lap Potter had retaken the lead with Belton in hot pursuit.

For the first half hour there was nothing between Potter and Belton, while Billy Sargeant managed to pass his second cousin Herbert and his sister Jemma.

Billy stalled at the end of a lap, but Herbert could not take advantage. Disaster struck for Jemma when her chain snapped and her machine went to the pits.

After 15 minutes she was back in action, but the chain snapped again and she was forced to retire.

During the last 10 minutes Belton was reducing Potter’s lead, but her new-found experience counted as she won by three minutes.

Result: 1st Georgia Potter 10 laps, 1h 5.1m; 2nd Will Belton 10 laps, 1h 8.05m; 3rd Billy Sargeant 10 laps, 1h 11.13m; 4th Evan Herbert 9 laps, 1h 8.09m.
