A stoppage-time penalty from Marcus Hunt secured a 3-2 victory for Haverhill Rovers from their short trip to Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division rivals Newmarket Town on Saturday afternoon, while there was also victories for Mildenhall Town, Hadleigh United and Halstead Town.

However, with a matter of seconds remaining, the experienced Hunt kept his cool from 12 yards out to earn all three points.

Meanwhile, in the Ryman League Division One North, leaders AFC Sudbury were beaten 2-0 at home by Waltham Abbey and Soham Town Rangers lost 3-0 at Harlow Town.

Bury Town did not fare any better either, going down 2-1 at Heybridge Swifts.

In the Premier Division, Needham Market remain in relegation trouble after they lost 1-0 against Bognor Regis Town at Bloomfields.

Elsewhere, there were home victories for Mildenhall, Ely and Halstead Town, while Hadleigh ran out 1-0 victors from their trip to Thetford Town.

However, Walsham-le-Willows, Stowmarket and Team Bury all tasted defeat at home, as did Debenham LC and Haverhill Borough on the road.

The games involving Diss Town and AFC Sudbury Reserves, against Wivenhoe Town and Downham Town respectively, ended in score draws.

Neither Norwich City nor Ipswich Town were in action because of the international break.
