ON THE MOVE: Matt Hayden (in action for Mildenhall) has agreed a switch to Newmarket.

Newmarket Town have confirmed three new additions to their squad for the 2016-17 Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division campaign, while Ely City have announced that a number of last season’s players have re-signed.

The Journal reported last week that goalkeeper Ben Nower had agreed to join Newmarket from Hadleigh United, which the club have now ratified.

Joining the experienced Nower at the Cricket Field Road ground are former Mildenhall Town striker Matt Hayden from Lakenheath and centre-back James Chivers, who played for Over Sports last term.

The Jockeys have also revealed that they are in talks with up to eight other potential recruits.

As for Ely, Matty Simpson, Daniel Jeffrey, Ash Walter, Alex Theobald, Craig Neal, Spencer Saberton and James Seymour have all agreed to remain at the Unwin Ground following their promotion back to the top flight.

Harry Reynolds has also signed on, having spent a period on loan with Brady Stone’s men last season.
