Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club ran in 13 tries on their way to recording a comprehensive 79-0 victory from their lengthy trip to Cornish All Blacks on Saturday afternoon.

It was skipper Matt Eddison that made the biggest contribution for the visitors as he ran in four tries during the 80-minute contest.

In fact, the winning margin could have been even greater had Bury not squandered a number of chances or kicked some of the six missed conversions.

The victory is a fourth on the bounce for Gavin Hogg’s men, which has gone a long way to easing any National League 2 relegation fears.

In London 2 North East, third-placed Diss lost by a slender margin away at Romford & Gidea Park.

The visitors from Norfolk put 22 points on the board, but their hosts scored three more to claim the victory.

However, there was more positive news for Sudbury as they edged out Cantabrigian 15-13.

The narrow triumph has left Graham Richards’ men second in the table, three points adrift of leaders Saffron Walden.

In Division One of the Eastern Counties League, Thurston, Newmarket and Thetford were all beaten, but in Division Two South Stowmarket II overcame Aldeburgh & Thorpeness.
