Breckland Council announces changes to bin collection routes which could see collection days change for Thetford residents

Thetford residents may need to put their bins out on a different day as Breckland Council plans to make some collection routes more efficient.

Coming in from February 26, around half of the residents of the district will see changes made to household waste, recycling and garden waste collection days.

The changes have been prompted by the closure of the previous waste collection site, where the district’s rubbish was taken as well as the rise of homes in the district and for its garden waste collection services.

Councillor Helen Crane, executive member for waste at the council, said: “By changing the routes our bin crews follow, we can minimise the number of miles they have to cover and ensure they are collecting everybody’s rubbish as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

Collections will continue to be made weekly, with waste collected one week and recycling the next and the council said even with the changes no one will miss any of their collections – for more details, click here.

Residents of all Breckland homes will also be sent a leaflet, ahead of the changes, by mid-February.
