A team from a Thetford crazy golf equipment suppliers has decided to take its clubs into its own hands and compete against some of the best players in the UK at a major mini golf tournament.

The team from Putterfingers.com will be taking part in the British Mini Golf Association British Championship and Singles Matchplay 2021, at Strokes Adventure Golf, in Margate, on October 16 and 17.

The team have also participated at the World Crazy Golf Championships held in September, as well as the Sussex Wasps Open, in August.

Richard Standen, the company's director, said: "It is great to be finally out there competing. Until now we have not made the time to get a team together and travel to tournaments.

"Everyone here is busy providing mini golf gear to the nation: designing and making obstacles, selling putters and balls, delivering courses for hire or buy around the country.

"But this year we have finally made the commitment to get out there, get to know everybody on the mini golf scene, and see what it’s like to compete at tournament level.”

The team consists of employees Alf Standen, Jon Clarke, Stuart Hunter and David Hill.

The upcoming tournament will host previous winners and even a world champion, and though the team has no illusions about its prowess, having played only two major tournaments before, the team remains upbeat about the future.

Team member Jon, said: "These top players are just ordinary people with a passion for mini golf and a lot of determination.

"If we can maintain that kind of attitude for the next few years, there is no reason why we should not do well.”
