Fines and prohibition after van on A11 at Thetford found to be more than a third over legal load limit

A delivery van driver stopped on the A11 near Thetford has been given a prohibition notice by police after the vehicle was found to be more than a third over the legal load limit.

Officers from the Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team tweeted today that they had seen the van on the major road and felt it ‘looked heavy on the rear.’

After taking the van to a nearby weighbridge, it was found to be 34.8 per cent over the legal load limit.

The officers placed a prohibition notice on the van, immobilised it and issued large fines.

The load was removed and then placed into a more appropriate van.
