She didn’t even expect a reply.

“It had a stamp on the back saying CR (King Charles) and was marked private and confidential.

“I’d been learning about formal letter writing at school and I’d written to The Queen about two weeks earlier.

“I didn’t expect to hear back.”

Amy, who is a reading ambassador at Norwich Road Academy, has always been a big fan of the Royal Family.

When she was seven, she also wrote to Queen Elizabeth hoping that her Corgis ‘were well and having fun’.

That time, she received a letter from one of Her Majesty’s ladies-in waiting to say ‘thanks’.

Amy said: ”To Queen Camilla, I wrote about my fondness for all the work she does with children, such as meeting Olivia Taylor, the little girl with a brain tumour.

“I talked about King Charles and Kate, hoping they they were well.

”I didn’t talk much about their health in the letter but I did know about it, as I knew what had happened in my family, with my grandad.

”I wanted to send over my best wishes for them.

”I also mentioned my love of plants and gardening, the same as The King.”

“I was just practising my letter writing knowledge from school and I wasn’t going to send it at first.

“But after I read it, I was really pleased with it, and sent it second class post, the same day.”

Amy was was excited to receive the reply last week.

She said: ”I opened the letter and it said: “Dear Amy. Thank you very much for your kind letter and your generous words of support and encouragement which were greatly appreciated.

“At the bottom it read: with best wishes, and Queen Camilla’s signature.

“I was shocked to receive a personal reply.”

“The letter is on the mantlepiece. I will take it to school first, and then I’ll frame it.”

Mum Joanna, said: “Amy knew both Charles and Kate had cancer and I think it bought back memories of her grandad.

“She still remembers that time vividly.

“She just wanted to send her wishes in her own way, as she has got a really kind heart.
