Nursery children from Norwich Road Academy in Thetford build links with new care home Coronation House
Children have extended a warm welcome to a new care home that has opened in the same road as their school.
Nursery children at Norwich Road Academy, in Thetford, watched Coronation House being built and now it’s ready thought it would be kind to paint some artwork for staff and residents.
Nursery manager Stacy Stone said being a ‘Kind School’, the children wanted to paint the residents spring flowers after learning about plants and flowers in their 'green fingers' topic.
The children walked to Coronation House to donate their artwork and met with the manager Teresa Burgess and her team.
Mrs Stone said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed painting the flowers, walking to the care home and felt proud to donate their paintings. Norwich Road Academy believe it is important to work within and support the local community.”
The children were invited back for a time capsule event at the care home’s grand opening.
The school donated a photograph, examples of pupils’ work and school information for a time capsule buried on the day.
Norwich Road Academy principal Julia Miles said: “The children were treated wonderfully by the Coronation House team and each left with a small gift too!”
