Busy Bees Day Nursery, in Thetford, is praised by Ofsted for providing ‘good’ provision

A children’s nursery in Thetford has been rated ‘good’ across the board by the education regulator.

Busy Bees Day Nursery, in Mallow Road, was praised by Ofsted for its ‘warm, kind and responsive’ staff, ‘stimulating and engaging’ activities for all the children, and polite and well behaved youngsters.

The inspection took place on February 18 and graded the nursery ‘good’ for overall effectiveness and in all areas: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.

The Ofsted report said: “The nursery offers a tailored approach to helping children to settle in. This means that staff have time to build relationships with their key children.”

It added staff teach children to be independent, they encourage them to express themselves, and support youngsters to manage their behaviour.

Staff quickly identify when children require further support and use a bespoke curriculum to support children to make progress.

“They ensure all children are involved in the learning opportunities they provide,” it continued. “Children from disadvantaged backgrounds make good progress with their learning and development. All children are prepared for the next stage in their education.”

In further highlights:

♦ There is a strong focus on supporting children to be healthy;

♦ Staff keep children safe and secure and teach children how they can keep themselves safe;

♦ Children develop a love of reading;

♦ Staff teach children about different concepts in an interesting way;

♦ Parents speak very highly of the nursery and staff work closely with parents and other professionals in order to meet the needs of children.

To improve further, Ofsted said the setting should continue to build on the already good practice, helping staff to deliver high quality teaching consistently across the nursery.

The nursery, which has 88 children on roll, is part of a national chain and was previously rated good by Ofsted in 2019.
