Jack Simpson from Swaffham area charged with assaulting police officers in Thetford and racially aggravated public order offences
A 23-year-old man has been charged with assaulting five police officers and racially aggravated public order offences in a town.
Police were called to reports of a disturbance at an address on Kimms Belt in Thetford at about 4.30am on Saturday.
A man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, assault and assaulting an emergency worker.
He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning where he was further arrested for racially aggravated public order offences.
Jack Simpson, of no fixed address in the Swaffham area, was subsequently charged with five counts of assaulting a police officer, one count of criminal damage and two counts of racially aggravated public order offences against officers.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court today.
