Joseph Gardiner, of Amulet Close, Thetford, admits targeting town businesses and properties in graffiti spree




A man has admitted damaging several town businesses and its police station in a graffiti spree earlier this month.

Joseph Gardiner, 28, of Amulet Close, Thetford, appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with 11 counts of criminal damage.

He targeted several places and businesses in the town earlier this month, including William Hill, Biedronka Supermarket, Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Coral Bookmakers, Poundland and Poundstretcher Stores.

He also graffitied bins belonging to Havebury Housing Partnership and Thetford Town Council and a Norfolk County Council bollard.

As well as this, Gardiner targeted a phone at Thetford Police Station and a lifesaving buoy and chair owned by Breckland District Council’s.

Gardiner was bailed by the court and will appear before magistrates again on January 13 for sentencing.

He was ordered to not enter Thetford town centre, while he was also instructed to only enter Hurth Way for medical appointments and to collect medications.

Alongside these conditions, Gardiner was banned from possessing marker pens and spray paint.
