Man arrested in Hockwold, near Lakenheath and Brandon, following stabbing of pensioner in his 80s




A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in a village after a pensioner in his 80s was stabbed in the neck.

Norfolk Police officers were called just before 9am on Thursday following reports a man had been injured in Hockwold, near Lakenheath and Brandon.

The victim, a man in his 80s, was initially taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn but was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.

He remains in a critical but stable condition having suffered life-threating injuries.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning where he remains.

Detectives have been given extra time to question him. The victim and suspect were known to each other.

A police cordon remains in place while investigations continue.
