Man charged after woman hit over the head with brick

A 25-year-old has been charged after two assaults which included a woman being hit over the head with a brick.

Owen Coppins, of no fixed address, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, assault and criminal damage.

This follows an incident at a casino in King Street, Thetford, at 12.34am yesterday where a man threatened a member of staff, throwing a brick which damaged a wall.

The man then approached a woman in the street and hit her over the head with the brick.

The woman in her 20s was taken to West Suffolk Hospital with a head injury. She has since been discharged.

Coppins has been remanded in custody to appear at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court this morning.
