A man has been reported for possession with intent to supply a psychoactive substance after he was found with almost 80 laughing gas cannisters on the A11 near Elveden.

Police stopped a van on the road at 9.45pm on February 5 after the driver was reported as behaving suspiciously.

A 34-year-old man voluntarily attended an interview at Thetford Police Station on Monday and has been reported for possession with intent to supply a psychoactive substance.

A Norfolk Police spokesperson said forensic tests are being carried out to identify and confirm the substance and inquiries are ongoing.

NOS is a gas used by dentists as a sedative and anaesthetic agent. It is also used in the catering industry and is often found in silver, pressurised whipped cream chargers.

It is also called 'laughing gas' as when people inhale it through balloons, it can make them feel happy, relaxed and giggly.
