Traquinas Childcare celebrates top Ofsted ratings for both its Thetford settings following Croxton Road inspection

A nursery owner is celebrating a remarkable milestone as both of her nurseries have been rated ‘outstanding’ by the regulator.

Traquinas Childcare’s nursery, in Croxton Road, Thetford, has been recognised with the highest rating from Ofsted just weeks after the company’s other Thetford setting, in Raymond Street, also achieved the top accolade.

The inspector awarded Traquinas Childcare, at 36 Croxton Road, ‘outstanding’ for overall effectiveness and in every area: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

The report, following the inspection on March 25, said children ‘thrive in this highly engaging and motivating nursery’ and are ‘extremely well prepared for starting school’.

Staff were praised by the inspector for being ‘truly passionate’ about helping children to have the best possible start in life, while teaching was described as ‘exemplary’.

Managing director of Traquinas Childcare, Carla Ferreira, who moved to the UK from Portugal at the age of 18, reflected on the journey with deep gratitude and pride.

“When I arrived, I worked a number of different jobs and eventually began my career in childcare in a local school,” she said. “To now lead two outstanding nurseries is nothing short of a dream come true.”

She said the achievement was a testament not only to perseverance and hard work but also to the support of a dedicated team and the trust of the families they serve.

“We are truly overwhelmed by the support we’ve received. Our incredible staff and the wonderful families who walk through our doors every day are the heart of everything we do.”

She hopes this story will inspire others to believe in their potential, no matter where they begin. “If you work hard, stay focused, and lead with passion, anything is possible,” she added.

In further highlights in the Ofsted report:

♦ Leaders highly value the staff who work in the nursery...A meaningful ongoing programme of professional development opportunities continually helps staff to build their knowledge and skills in childcare;
♦ Children are helped to develop a very strong sense of belonging in their local community;
♦ Staff place a strong emphasis on developing children's communication and language;
♦ Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families receive exemplary support and guidance from staff;
♦ Staff work very closely with parents and other professionals to help develop and nurture children to make the very best progress they can... Strategies such as providing private speech and language therapist sessions help children to receive the support they need in a timely manner;
♦ Staff provide training for parents that helps to increase their knowledge of different aspects of childcare, such as preparing their children for starting school and e-safety.
