One person left with minor injuries after train hits tree and derails near Thetford Station





One person has been left with minor injuries after a train struck a tree and derailed.

The East Midlands service, which was on its way to Norwich, derailed between Thetford and Harling Road last night.

Emergency services, including fire, police and ambulance, were called to the scene.

In a post on X, Norfolk Police said: “One passenger with minor injury looked after by ambulance colleagues but no other injuries.

“Fire also on scene. Network Rail arranging transport for passengers to complete their journey.”

A spokesperson for National Rail said disruption was expected until the end of the day, with trains unable to run between Norwich and Ely.

The incident is also affecting trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Nottingham.
