Thetford phone accessory shop The Case Place, in Market Place, to shut after more than 11 years

The owner of a mobile phone accessory shop in Thetford has made the sad decision to shut its doors after more than 11 years.

The Case Place, in Market Place, will cease trading on April 5.

Owner David Wortley said footfall in the town centre was the lowest he’d ever seen it while there was nothing to draw people in.

In a social media post, he said: “With the population of approximately 30.000 people and 99% of them have a phone, I’m struggling to sell 80 items a week, this only just covers the outgoings without any wage.

“With the younger generation mostly ordering from online retailers there’s now way any shop could compete with the main two internet giants, I have to be more expensive than them.

“I would like to thank all of you that have supported me over the 11 and a half years.”
