Restaurant and supermarket planned for former Wilko and Dough and Co sites in Thetford

Thetford will soon have a new restaurant and supermarket as work on both projects are set to be complete in the coming months.

The 7 Pecados restaurant, which will be in the Riverside Leisure Complex in Bridge Street, will serve up authentic Portuguese food from the units which were Dough and Co and Burger Amour.

The owners of the restaurant are also set to transform the former Wilko shop, in Minstergate, into a supermarket featuring a deli, bakery, and butchers.

Both the vacant shop and Riverside Complex are owned by Breckland Council, which has reached a deal to rent the sites to the restaurant and supermarket operators.

Councillor Paul Hewett, executive member for property, projects and procurement at Breckland, said: “Reaching an agreement to rent out these spaces will further contribute to our vision of a vibrant and dynamic Thetford, supporting business growth and bringing new experiences and opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy.”

The restaurant is on track to open in May with the shop opening to follow afterwards.
