Thetford teenager Elvis Price jailed for Bury Road stabbing

A man who was stabbed in front of his children on Mother’s Day has said his life will never be the same again as his attacker is jailed.

Elvis Price, 19, of Amulet Close, Thetford, was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment at Norwich Crown Court today.

He was convicted of GBH with intent, the most serious form of assault, on October 11.

He, alongside a 17-year-old boy, had been acquitted of attempted murder that same day.

The victim, in his 30s, his partner and their two young children were walking home after they had been out for breakfast on March 10, 2024, before unexpectedly encountering Price and a woman, the court was told.

Price then stabbed the victim repeatedly in the chest, abdomen, and back. The attack took less than 10 seconds in its entirety.

The incident was captured on a mobile phone and after the stabbing, Price and the 17-year-old fled the scene, with emergency services called at 11.45am.

The court was told there had been a history of hostility between the two families.

The victim told the court how his injuries affected him.

He added: "Prior to the incident I lived independently, was sociable, and could drive, all of which is different now.

"Because of the stabbing my whole life is different."

The victim’s parents suffered the worst day of their lives after the attack, his father told the court.

"I can only describe it as a complete rollercoaster," he said.

"As parents it is our job to keep our son safe and this was something completely out of our control.

"The stress and anxiety this traumatic incident has had upon our family is massive and continues with the ongoing effect it has on our son with now life-changing injuries.

"It is painful for us all."

The victim’s partner said their lives would never be normal again – and that the daily trauma of the attack was unimaginable.

In addition to his sentence Price will spend three years after his release on licence.

Following Price’s sentencing, Detective Inspector Sam Pontin from Norfolk Police said: “The violence shown by Price was unwarranted and extreme, leaving a man for dead on the pavement in front of his family then running away.

"The victim suffered life changing injuries following this incident which highlights how catastrophically situations can escalate when a knife is involved.

“Serious violence, especially knife crime, will not be tolerated and we always seek to bring offenders to justice.

“Reaching for a weapon is never the right choice."
