The Food Museum, in Suffolk, puts on workshops and fun foodie adventures for youngsters during the school holidays
Join in with a summer of foodie adventures and outdoor fun at the Food Museum, in Stowmarket, this summer holiday.
Immerse yourself in the joy of cooking, baking, and exploring the great outdoors at the 84-acre site, which is offering a range of workshops and delicious treats for all ages.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings until August 31, create flatbread pizzas from scratch and bake them in an outdoor wood-fired pizza oven, before enjoying your creation for lunch.
Then on Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoons, create sweet or savoury scones using fresh produce from the museum’s walled garden.
Workshops are for ages five-plus, with booking essential.
Children aged seven-11 can join the museum’s summer cooking programme Thrills and Grills on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from July 30-August 27, where they will spend a full day learning to cook with a professional chef, learning chef skills, gathering fresh produce from the site and preparing their own lunches and afternoon treats.
Free places are available for children in receipt of free school meals.
Workshops and museum entry can be purchased through www.foodmuseum.org.uk.
Every day, there are talks, tours and demonstrations at the museum, including seeing the 18th century watermill in action making flour, trying your hand at farming, and meeting the museum’s Suffolk Punch horse and new foal.
There are also tempting tasters to try inspired by the new exhibition Forty Farms, which presents stunning photography of farms in Cumbria by British Life Photographer of the Year, Amy Bateman.
