Dragon Fest returns to West Stow Country Park and Anglo-Saxon Village, near Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall, this weekend
A popular annual event at an historic Suffolk site near Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall takes place this weekend.
Dragon Fest is at West Stow Country Park and Anglo-Saxon Village today and tomorrow, 11am-4pm both days.
Organisers said visitors to the eighth Dragon Fest could expect a ‘fantastic weekend of fun-filled activities’.
They will be able to meet dragons, dinosaurs, creatures and unique characters, with a daily timetable of family entertainment and fun activities.
On the line-up is entertainment from Bring Out Your Dead Productions, Rattlebox Theatre Company and Spinning Wheel Theatre, with visitors encouraged to meet and pet the dragons as they roam the village.
Other activities at the two-day festival include: arts and crafts; circus skills workshops; storytelling; face painting; live music; axe throwing and archery and wellbeing sessions.
The event is suitable for ages three-plus (under-fives free and do not require a ticket), with on the day tickets available.
If you are heading to Dragon Fest this weekend, here is some helpful information:
Car parking
Car parking is included in the Dragon Fest ticket and there will be car parking attendants on site to assist.
Cash and card
Although the majority of the attractions are free of charge, mobile signal is poor at West Stow and mobile card payments may struggle to work, therefore consider taking cash too.
Refreshments
You are welcome to take a picnic.
Grounds Café will be open on both days, in the play area and the main café.
Food stalls at the event will include:
• Friendly Herring Pizza
• Purple Pepper with their Mexican menu
• A la Carte’s Sausages Stand
• Coffee and hot drinks from Bramble
• PIMMS tent from Events Factor
• Ice cream from George’s Ices
Water stations
Water stations will be available on site for visitors to fill up any water bottles.
Weather
The weather forecast is improving (hooray!) and it looks like the sun is set to shine on Dragon Fest.
If you need to take cover from rain showers or sunshine, there will be plenty of opportunities to seek cover at the event.
